Growth Plan Open House On Tuesday

The Spokane County planning commission will hold its last open house in the Valley on Tuesday at Horizon Junior High School, 3915 S. Pines Road, to introduce the latest draft of the county’s comprehensive plan.

Residents are invited to the informational meeting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

County planners, planning commissioners, and others will be on hand to answer questions about Draft Plan 2000.

Copies of the 600-plus page plan can be checked out from the county long range planning department and many county libraries. A CD-ROM of the plan can be purchased from the county for $3.25.

Residents can also view the complete plan, which includes more than 30 color maps, on the Internet at the Spokane County Web site. Go to: www.spokanecounty.org/lrp and click on Draft Plan 2000.

Comments on the plan should be directed to Tim Lawhead, Spokane County Public Works, 1026 W. Broadway, Spokane, WA 99206. Call 477-7214 or e-mail tlawhead@spokanecounty.org.

Written comments will be accepted at the open house.

Also, residents can comment on the Draft Plan 2000 at public hearings in April and May.

The public hearing in the Valley will be held at 5:30 p.m. on May 4 at Horizon Junior High School.
