Arlene Beeson Colfax, Wash.

Service for Arlene E. Beeson, 82, was held Friday at the Palouse (Wash.) Federated Church. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Beeson, who was born in Potlatch, Idaho, died Tuesday.

She graduated from Palouse High School in 1935 and married Boyd Beeson in 1941.

They farmed in Palouse until retiring in 1981.

Mrs. Beeson and her husband spent the winter months in Mesa, Ariz.

In 1999 she moved to the Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Palouse Federated Church, the Palouse Xenodican Club, the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include her husband in Palouse; two sons, Phillip Beeson of Colfax and Bruce Beeson of Palouse; a brother, Elwin Boone of Palouse; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Maxine Taylor Spokane

No service will be held for Maxine F. Taylor, 90, at her request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Taylor died Wednesday. She was born in Athol, Idaho.

She married Willard Taylor in 1932. Mrs. Taylor worked as a clerk in the Spokane County records office before retiring in 1975.

She was a member of Hope Rebekah Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star, White Rose Chapter.

Her husband died in 1968.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Dillon, and a son, Robert Taylor, both of Spokane; a brother, Melvin Horseman of New Richmond, Wis.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Lynn Taylor Spokane

Private service for Lynn R. Taylor, 60, was held Monday in Powell, Wyo. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Taylor, who was born in Lawrence, Mass., died March 14.

He graduated from high school in Massachusetts and in 1963 married Louise Decker. They moved to Spokane, and he was a self-employed businessman.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Alice Fish of Venice, Fla.; and four sisters, Janet Ciliberti of Southington, Conn., Alice Johnson of Lawrence, Mass., Diane Taylor of Ladson, S.C., and Donna Taylor of Pendell, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Brenda Kanwishcer Spokane

Memorial service for Brenda Sue Kanwishcer, 37, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the American Lutheran Church in Newport, Wash. ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Kanwishcer, who was born in Flagstaff, Ariz., died Monday.

She graduated from Newport High School in 1981 and worked as an electronic field inspector at Key Tronic in Newport and Cheney.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Ray Funden of Newport; her father, George Kanwishcer of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Vicki Rook of Kent, Wash.; and her grandmother, Evelyn Doeling of Carrington, N.D..

Walter `Sonny’ Loftis Jr. Anchorage, Alaska

Service for Walter W. “Sonny” Loftis Jr., 58, will be at 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Loftis died Sunday.

After graduating from high school he moved to Glendale, Calif., and joined the Army. He served in Germany as a heavy machinery mechanic.

He moved back to Spokane in 1964 and worked as an auto mechanic and later as a truck driver.

Mr. Loftis later moved to Lewiston and lived in Elk for nine years before moving to Anchorage in 1989. Mr. Loftis most recently had been working for Lynden Transport in Kotzebue, Alaska, at the Red Dog Mine.

Survivors include his companion, Josephine Puff of Anchorage; two sons, Thomas Loftis of Spokane and Marty Loftis of Creston, Wash.; five daughters, Barbara James of Springdale, Wash., and Kris Grundhauser, Sonni Schwin, Sherry Davis and Cindy Sottile, all of Anchorage; his father and stepmother, Walter and Marie Loftis Sr. of Nine Mile Falls; a sister, Donna Jean; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lloyd Virtue Spokane

Memorial service for Lloyd E. Virtue, 81, will be at 10 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

A 56-year Spokane resident, Mr. Virtue died Wednesday. He was born in Rapid City, S.D.

He graduated from high school in Rapid City and served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He worked as the maintenance supervisor at Eastern Washington University for 25 years and retired in 1973.

His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Harfield of Portland and Jody Woodward of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Bakken of Spokane; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Carl Allen Spokane

Memorial service for Carl Franklin Allen, 90, will be at 10 a.m. today in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 75-year Spokane resident, Mr. Allen died Wednesday. He was born in Harrison, Ark.

In 1934 he married Clara Lamping.

He worked as a self-employed building contractor and carpenter.

Mr. Allen was a Golden Eagle member member of the Eagles Lodge and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Carpenters Union.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James Allen of Spokane; two daughters, Janet Collins of Nine Mile Falls and Donna Reiss of Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Helen Skinner of Spokane; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Robert Smith Spokane

No service will be held for Robert J. Smith, 69, at his request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, who was born in St. John, Wash., died last Saturday.

A Spokane resident for more than 50 years, he graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

Mr. Smith worked in the job shop at The Spokesman-Review for 12 years. He retired as supervisor.

He was a member of the Printers Union for 40 years.

Survivors include a son, Ricki Smith of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Deborah Smith-Nicholas of Vancouver and Kathy Carter of Watsonville, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Barbara (Longbottom) McClure Spokane

Visitation for Barbara Beth (Longbottom) McClure, 73, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Maplewood Cemetery in Stevensville, Mont.

Born in Britt, Iowa, Mrs. McClure died Monday.

She was a 56-year Spokane resident.

In 1944 she graduated from high school in Stevensville and graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1947 as a registered nurse.

She married Cliff Robinson in 1948. They later divorced.

Mrs. McClure worked as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in the emergency room and the poison center.

In 1962 she married Dick McClure.

Her husband died in 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Phil, Rick and Craig Robinson of Spokane; a brother, Garth Longbottom of Spokane; and four grandsons.

Lila McGuire Spokane

Service for Lila Marie (Turk) McGuire, 74, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Wallace, Mrs. McGuire died Wednesday.

She grew up in Tekoa, Wash., and had lived in Spokane for 55 years.

Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker.

Her husband of 50 years, Donald, died in 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Jr. and Thomas McGuire, both of Spokane; three daughters, Linda Shull and Peggy Stern, both of Spokane, and Kerry Clark of Tonasket, Wash.; a sister, Bernice Carter of Tensed, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lorraine Rolly Philip, S.D.

No service will be held for Lorraine A. Rolly, 75. Private inurnment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane. Rush Funeral Home in Philip is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rolly, 75, died Wednesday. She was born in Oldham, S.D., and graduated from Oldham High School.

Mrs. Rolly later graduated from a business college in Sioux Falls, S.D., and then moved to Spokane, where she worked as a legal secretary.

Mrs. Rolly moved to Rapid City, S.D., five years ago and recently had moved to Philip.

Her husband, Walter, preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sisters, Doris Moose of Wentworth, S.D., Jeanne Radway of Philip and JoAnne Hawley of Fairview, Texas.

Pauline Dent Spokane

Private service will be held for Pauline A. Dent. Private inurnment will be at the Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dent, a homemaker, died Thursday. She was 78.

She was born in Great Falls, Mont., and moved to Spokane in 1968.

Her husband of 52 years, George, died in 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Dent of Denver and Jim Dent of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Virginia Wittig of Spokane; four sisters, Margie Virostko, Lucille Kolar and Katie Holland, all of Great Falls, and Dorothy Gliko of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Bernard Dusko of Great Falls; and a grandchild.

Esther Holmes Ritzville, Wash.

Service for Esther L. (Thomas) Holmes, 88, will be at 2 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Ritzville. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Washtucna, Wash.

Mrs. Holmes, who was born in Washtucna, died Wednesday.

Her family moved to Spokane when she was a child, and she graduated from Hillyard High School in 1929.

She married Oscar Holmes in 1934.

Mrs. Holmes worked as an office manager for J.C. Penney for 26 years before retiring in 1976.

She moved to the Rose Gardens in Ritzville in 1996.

Mrs. Holmes was a member of the Spokane Eagles Lodge, the Spokane Grandmothers Club and the Garden Club.

Her husband died in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Gary and Rodney Holmes, both of Spokane; a daughter, Sharon Dainty of Washtucna; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dale Lundberg Spokane

Memorial service for Dale L. Lundberg, 58, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Veradale Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Spokane Cremation and Burial Services is in charge of arrangements.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mr. Lundberg died Wednesday.

He was born in Spokane and graduated from West Valley High School in 1960.

Mr. Lundberg worked as a miner for Bunker Hill and also for Society Candy in Seattle. He later worked in the paving industry and as a machine operator at Centennial Mills for 30 years. He retired in 1996.

He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Bonnie; two sons, Martin and Ian Lundberg, both of Spokane; two daughters, Shannon Harader of Spokane and Cori Schoop of Wenatchee; his mother, Irene Gunning of Spokane; a brother, George Lundberg of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Bettye Blevins Spokane

Service for Bettye V. Blevins, 70, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

A 46-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Blevin died Tuesday. She was born in Graham, Texas.

A 46-year Spokane resident, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Blevin was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, National Rifle Association and the the Fire Board Advisory Committee.

Her husband, Walter, died in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Donald and Ronald Blevins, both of Spokane; a brother, Billy Edwards of Lubbock, Texas; and a sister, Branys Edwards of Breckenridge, Texas.
