The Rock Joining ‘Mummy’ Sequel Cast

The Hollywood Reporter

The Rock is smashing his way to the big screen.

Dwayne Johnson, otherwise known as the Rock and one of the World Wrestling Federation’s biggest wrestling stars, is joining the cast of the sequel to the 1999 hit “The Mummy.”

Johnson had been circling the role of the Scorpion King but is in final negotiations to play the ruler of all evil who is brought forth from the undead. Original cast members Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo and Oded Fehr are back on board for “The Mummy 2.”

The Rock is currently featured in the documentary “Beyond the Mat.” He next appears in the indie film “Jack of All Trades,” which stars Paul Sorvino, Antonio Sabato Jr. and Hunter Tylo, among others.

The wrestler’s recently published autobiography, “The Rock Says …, ” is No. 2 on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list.
