Ethelyn Soss Naples, Idaho
Ethelyn (Daniel) Soss, who was born March 21, 1900, in Michigan, celebrated her 100th birthday last Thursday.
She was raised in Spokane and was a member of a pioneer family that built many downtown buildings and businesses, including the Daniel Block and the Daniels’ Apartments.
Mrs. Soss attended North Central High School and Washington State University and graduated from Willamette University.
She taught school in Post Falls, Rathdrum, Idaho, and Latah, where she met and in 1927 married Walter Soss. In 1934 they moved to Spokane. They had two sons, Daniel and Richard.
Her husband died in 1987.
Mrs. Soss went to live with Daniel in Naples about 7 years ago.
She is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She has been interested and involved in politics for much of her life and still watches some of the candidates’ speeches.
Her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Martie Soss, live in Spokane. Daniel and his wife, Dee Soss, live in Naples. She has seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
