Deputy Assaulted

A Spokane Valley man was arrested after allegedly hitting a sheriff’s deputy Friday morning.

A deputy stopped a gray sedan at the 7-Eleven store on Argonne Road in Millwood at 9:20 a.m. Friday because of a badly cracked windshield.

After learning the driver had a suspended license for traffic infractions, the deputy attempted to place him under arrest.

The man allegedly ran from the deputy, hitting him in the head, before being wrestled to the ground by the deputy and two other men.

The suspect was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center for stitches to his head.

Matthew R. Moen, 26, 114 N. Whipple Road, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony third-degree assault.
