Red Robin, Off Broadway Bistro To Open

From Staff Reports

Two new restaurants will open in Spokane on Monday.

Red Robin will open its third Spokane location at Main and Post, across the street from River Park Square. The family restaurant’s menu features hamburgers and finger foods.

On North Monroe, the Off Broadway Bistro will open Monday at the site of the former Fugazzi Bakery at 810 N. Monroe. Although the bakery will continue to operate in the back, the Bistro, owned by Jennifer and David Cheslek, will serve soups, salads and made-to-order sandwiches for lunch.

At the Spokane Valley Mall, clothing store Rave will open by early May. Also opening this spring at the mall are hat store Lids and the Everett Gallery.

Heights Home Center and Nursery, at 2520 E. 29th Ave., is closing. Owner Stan Jensen said expenses for the store, which opened in 1997, have become too high. About 35 people will lose their jobs, and the store’s merchandise will be liquidated by the end of April.

Also closing is the Subway franchise at 821 W. Riverside. Owners Mike and Marianne Nelson said they are closing the sandwich shop April 1 because they don’t want to incur the expense of remodeling the store to Subway’s new corporate specifications.

Also, Doc Holliday’s steak house at 503 E. Third has closed. The owners filed for Chapter 11 reorganization earlier this month, but on Wednesday filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
