Students Receive Ewu Scholarships

Several Inland Northwest students attending Eastern Washington University earned scholarships for the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 school years.

The students are listed with their major, high school and parents.

1999-2000 scholarships

Loni Knigge, a sophomore majoring in music, received a meritorious music scholarship of $200. She is the daughter of Sue Gerald, Veradale, and a 1998 graduate of Central Valley High School. She participates in several EWU music groups.

Amber O’Doherty, a senior majoring in dental hygiene, received three scholarships for a total of $3,000. She earned a General Educational Development diploma in 1985 and is the daughter of Barbara Wood, Spokane, and Jerry Wood, Chewelah, Wash. Tami Miller, who is majoring in dental hygiene, received a $1,500 scholarship. Miller is a 1985 graduate of Mead High School and is the daughter of Cleta and Norman King, Spokane.

Patricia Weddle, a junior majoring in dental hygiene, received a $500 scholarship. She is a 1996 graduate of Shadle Park High School and the daughter of Jan Weddle, Spokane.

Natalie Denenny received a $550 scholarship for outstanding academic achievement as a graduate student majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Jeanette Denenny, Spokane and a 1992 graduate of Ferris High School.

2000-2001

Staci Haye, Newman Lake, and Michael Cabbage, Spokane, were each awarded a $2,500 trustees scholarship for academic excellence.

Haye, a sophomore in EWU’s Honors Program, is majoring in marketing. She graduated from East Valley High School in 1998 and is the daughter of Calvin and Patricia Haye, Newman Lake.

Cabbage, son of Patrick and Beverly Cabbage, is a 1997 graduate of East Valley High School. He is a sophomore, majoring in biotechnology and psychology and is in the Honors Program.

Gabriel Dahlin, Coeur d’Alene, and Bobijo Mueller, Spokane, received $2,000 presidential scholarships based on their high school academic accomplishments.

Dahlin, son of Kari and Buck Melton, Coeur d’Alene, will graduate from Lake City High School in June. He is involved in football and track and field and is a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to major in journalism.

Mueller, daughter of Joseph and Karen Mueller, Spokane, will graduate from Central Valley High School in June. She maintained a 4.0 grade-point average and scored 1,200 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. She plans to major in accounting.
