Gu Debate Team Among Nation’S Best

Gonzaga University students Aaron Moburg-Jones and Casey Kelly were voted into the nation’s top 16 individual debate teams. They were awarded “First Round Pre-Bids” to the National Debate Tournament, and won’t have to qualify through the normal district tournament process. This is the third time in the past 20 years that members of GU’s debate team have achieved this honor.

The following Inland Northwest residents are graduates of ITT Technical Institute. They are listed with their hometown:

Edmund Bergman, Dana Bradfute,Kevin Campbell, Jeffrey Curtis, Shawn Fifield, Jon Grossman, Karen Harrison, Shawn MacDonald, Derrick McLauchlin, Cole Orcutt, Robbie Ropp, Christopher Saggau, Brian Schindler, Stephen Weeden and Jason Young, all of Spokane.

Colleen Childs, Spokane, will spend a semester in Florence, Italy, through Syracuse University’s Division of International Programs Abroad. Childs is an art major at Whitman College.

Three Inland Northwest residents have completed basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Jacob Person, son of Susan Person, Spokane, is a 1999 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Air Force Airman Bonnie Lame Bull daughter of Karyne Lame Bull, Spokane, graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1997.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jodi Cleven, daughter of Daniel and Alison Hemmert, Spokane, is a 1999 graduate of Spokane Community College.
