Paddling Festivals

Canoeing and kayaking

Shops and outfitters have scheduled several festivals for paddlers to try new boats, paddles and other gear and get details from factory reps.

Mountain Gear’s Paddle Fair. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Liberty Lake County Park for flatwater demos; next Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sullivan Park on Spokane River for moving water demos. Info: 325-9000.

Paddle Fest on Lake Pend Oreille, Saturday, includes free paddling clinics and demos on canoes and kayaks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the waterfront at Lakeside Inn next to the Sandpoint City Beach. Info: Full Spectrum Tours, (208) 263-5975.

Necky Fest, May 16, features Necky kayak demos 5-8 p.m. at Lakeside Inn in Sandpoint.

Evening canoe and kayak demos on the Spokane River will be held Wednesdays and/or Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. beginning May 24. Call Mountain Gear for exact schedule, 325-9000.
