Shadow Boot Seattle In U.S. Open Cup Qualifier

Abbas Faridnia and Garth Cummings scored second-half goals to lead the Spokane Shadow to a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Sounders Select in a U.S. Open Cup qualifier match in Seattle.

Cummings staked the Shadow (1-0-1) to a 1-0 lead with a goal, on an assist from Alika Cosner, just 12 minutes into the game.

Seattle responded with a Scott Burcar score at 28 minutes and a Ben Somoza goal in the 44th minute to take a 2-1 lead at the half.

Faridnia pulled the Shadow even at the 67-minute mark and Cummings booted the game-winner in the 74th minute.

Spokane takes on the Willamette Valley Firebirds on Saturday night at 7:05. The first 500 kids will receive full-size soccer balls.
