Tonasket Group Seeks Healers For Gathering

A Tonasket group is calling all healers.

Steve Erbs, president of Okanogan Family C.A.R.E.S., is looking for all kinds of healers to lead workshops at the group’s Family Healing Gathering June 23-25.

“Together, we will create a weekend of healing, camping, playing, dancing and all that is possible in the joyful expression of love,” Erbs said.

Participants will gather at a primitive camp about 12 miles east of Tonasket, off state Highway 20. Although the sponsors will provide vegetarian breakfasts and suppers, a tea kitchen and a sweat lodge, people should bring all the other supplies they will need, Erbs said.

He said participants 12 and older are asked to pay $25 to $50 each, as they are able, but no one will be turned away for lack of money. “There will be ample opportunity for work exchange,” Erbs said.

Proceeds will go to Okanogan Family C.A.R.E.S. (Community Assistance, Relief and Emergency Services), a nonprofit corporation that Erbs said was recently formed to help families and to operate the itinerant and somewhat intermittent Family Healing Gathering.

The campout started at Manson, Wash., in the early 1970s, and has been staged at various locations around the Okanogan Highlands.
