Free conference

Heritage Congregational Church on Spokane’s South Hill will host the annual Pacific Northwest Association of Congregational Christian Churches Conference next Saturday through May 21. The featured speaker is the Rev. Douglas Lobb, executive secretary of the National Association of Congregational Churches.

Several small-group seminars will be offered during the conference. Topics include cooperative youth ministries, estate planning and counseling.

The conference is free. Call Heritage at 624-5090 to register and receive a complete event schedule. The church is located at 1801 E. 29th.

Kyiv Symphony to perform

The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus has included Spokane in their third goodwill tour in the United States. The Ukrainian group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W. Riverside. The symphony was started by American conductor Roger McMurrin in 1993 and performs everything from Handel to Bach as well as sacred music. The concert will also include folk music with Ukrainian costumes and instruments.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit Music Mission Kiev, a nonprofit organization.
