Two Face Drug Charges

Two men were arrested Monday morning after going on a medicine buying spree in the Valley.

Deputies began looking for a black IROC Camaro around 9:30 a.m. Monday after several pharmacies reported that two men had bought large quantities of cold medicine and then left the stores in a Camaro. All of the medicine contained ephedrine, an ingredient used to make methamphetamine.

A Camaro was stopped at 9:45 a.m. on Pines near Sixth. At least 16 bottles of medicine containing ephedrine were found in the car.

Quintin L. Beck, 34, 3507 E. Marietta, and James Patrick George, 34, 12111 E. Main, were arrested on charges of possession of ephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth.

George, who was driving the Camaro, was also booked on charges of felony drug possession and drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office has also named George as a suspect in an alleged meth lab discovered on Saturday in the Main Avenue apartment where he lived.

Members of the Regional Drug Task Force arrived with a search warrant around noon on Saturday and found liquid believed to contain uncrystallized meth, according to task force director Lt. Chan Bailey.

Four guns also were found in the apartment. A black IROC Camaro was reportedly seen leaving the area shortly before the drug bust, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
