Statewide Education Awards Bestowed
Four Spokane educators, a West Valley teacher and the Spokane School District 81 board of directors have been named recipients of the state’s Washington Award for Excellence in Education - 2000.
The Spokane school board was the only board in the state to receive the honor. Don Howell, an administrator at the Spokane Skills Center, was among five administrators to win the award.
West Valley teacher Marcy Hoggatt of West Valley City School and District 81 teachers Nancy Cole Hough of Ferris High School, Linda Lee of Holmes Elementary School and Jacqueline Lake of Shadle Park High School are among the 46 teachers statewide to receive the award.
Gov. Gary Locke and state schools Superintendent Terry Bergeson will honor the award recipients today during a special ceremony in Olympia.
The awards program, enacted by the 1986 Legislature, recognizes public schoolteachers, principals, administrators, school boards and classified personnel for their leadership, contributions and commitment to education.
