Unique Students, Faith Bond Class

Anna Rutherford Northwest Christian High School

When parents, teachers and underclassmen see our graduating class at Northwest Christian, their first impression is one of family.

This conclusion seems only natural, as many of the seniors in our tiny class of forty-two have gone through not only all of high school together, but junior high and elementary as well. It’s true that we have grown quite close, yet no group of people is without differences, and we have more than our share. In fact, my class is one of the most diverse groups I’ve ever known. It has taken much more than close quarters and the passing of time to unite us.

No, we share a stronger bond, one that cannot, and will not, be broken as we pursue our respective careers as dentist, singers, star athletes, teachers, or burger flippers (hey, there’s no shame in that). This connection transcends all of our experiences together: movie night, sleepovers, relationships lost and found again.

I suppose I should quit with the suspense, right? The one thing that brings my class together like nothing else can, that inspires us to a greater love for one another, is our shared relationship with Jesus Christ.

Through his love we have found the strength to do the impossible to mend broken hearts and find joy in every situation. Those things that once separated us into cliques just don’t seem so important in the light of what Christ has done to change us. We know that as graduation approaches and we go our separate ways we will lose touch with some and stay close to others, yet because of the fulfillment that we found together in Christ we will never forget one another. I know without a doubt that I have been forever changed by each unique person in my class and the faith that we share, so I’ll take this opportunity to say “thank you” to both the graduating class of Northwest Christian for all they’ve done for me and to my God for placing them in my life. God bless you guys!
