Con lies about finding Bubba, keeps money

Bubba ran away April 5. He was seen three times the same afternoon and again April 9 and 13 along state Highway 97.

Over 100 fliers have been posted from Interstate 90 to Harrison. We have met many good people looking for Bubba. An ad ran in three publications asking for information leading to finding Bubba.

April 24, we received a call from San Fancisco. Mark Wilkins said he and his wife saw Bubba get hit on Highway 97 by a blue pickup while they were on vacation. They picked him up and took him to a vet and found he had a broken leg. Upon reaching the San Francisco area, Wilkins decided to call. He said a friend from Coeur d’Alene let him know the dog’s owner was searching.

Apparently that is how he found my number. He said his wife wanted to keep Bubba because she was falling in love with him and that his wife spoke only French. He was angry about her spending money to care for Bubba. I told him how much Bubba meant to us and that I would pay anything to get him back. They finally agreed to put Bubba on a plane April 24. I sent $865 to Wilkins.

We met the airplane at Spokane and found no Bubba and no records of a dog being shipped. My heart was broken again. Now my determination to find him is even stronger.
