Nic Student Gets National Post

A North Idaho College student was recently elected vice president of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community colleges.

Holly Hansen, daughter of Mike and Karen Hansen of Wallace, was one of four vice presidents elected at the 82 International Convention in Orlando, Fla.

Hansen will serve a one-year term representing the West/ Northwest region.

Hansen’s duties will include maintaining regular contact with all chapters in her region, representing the international society at regional meetings and educational conferences and presiding at the International Convention and Honors Institute.

Hansen has been involved in student government at NIC and is majoring in foreign language communications. She hopes to become a translator and interpreter for the travel industry.

Phi Theta Kappa, founded in 1918, serves 1,200 two-year colleges around the world with chapters in the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada, Germany and Japan.
