Terry Vaughan Spokane

Memorial service for Terry Thomas Vaughan, 56, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trent Elementary School Auditorium. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vaughan, who was born in Spokane, died April 11. His body was pulled from the Spokane River on May 2.

He graduated from Central Valley High School and attended Washington State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Eastern Washington University and later received a master’s degree in deaf education from Lewis and Clark College in Portland.

Mr. Vaughan worked with deaf and hearing-impaired students in the East Valley School District and taught a popular sign language class at East Valley High School.

Survivors include his mother, Martha Vaughan of Woodinville, Wash.; a sister, Nancy Allenfort of Redmond, Wash.; and a brother, Tim Vaughan of Kirkland, Wash.

Delma Mildes Mead

Service for Delma L. Mildes, 88, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Mildes, who was born in Sumas, Wash., died Wednesday.

She graduated from high school in Spangle.

Mrs. Mildres moved to Mead from Elk 15 years ago. She was a farmer in the Elk area and owned and operated the 3Y Store in Elk until closing it in 1967.

She was a charter member of the Inland Grange in Elk, and a member of the Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She also was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Martin; four daughters, Arnita Eyler of Snohomish, Wash., Delma Watkins of Elk, Edna Billeter of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Donna Kuhnle of Hawaii; four sons, Melvin Reasor of Spokane, LeLand Reasor of Post Falls, Merle Reasor of Gresham, Ore. and Gary Greene of Los Angeles; a sister, Rose Ludwig of Seattle; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Paul Calabretta Jr. Kellogg

Memorial service for Paul Gordon Calabretta Jr., 75, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of cremation.

Born in Kellogg, Mr. Calabretta in died Friday.

He was a lifetime Silver Valley resident and served with the Army during World War II.

Mr. Calabretta returned to the Silver Valley after his military service and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then worked as a miner and warehouseman for the Bunker Hill Co., and retired after 30 years.

He was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and the Bunker Hill 20-year Club and had coached Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, flag football and men’s softball.

His wife, Bertha, died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Decker of Prichard, Idaho, and Toni Hill of Page, Idaho; four sisters, Rosie Basta of Walla Walla, Marion Duff of Spokane, Carmella Purjue of Williams Lake, British Columbia, and Barbara Calabretta of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
