Hotel Proposed
A Denver-based developer is proposing a hotel just south of Sacred Heart Medical Center between Grand and Rockwood boulevards.
Ray Clark of Clark Development Inc. is proposing a four-story, 45-room hotel on the site currently occupied by two parking lots and the vacant Bergdorf apartment building. Later, 16 rooms would be added.
The hotel would be the fifth lodging project Clark Development has built near a medical center.
Sacred Heart spokeswoman Marilyn Thordarson said the medical center, which owns the property, will likely lease it to Clark Development.
“We’re very interested,” she said. “It would be very convenient to patients and families in Spokane for treatment.”
The property is zoned for apartments, and Clark Development will need a special permit to build a hotel. A community meeting on the project is scheduled for tonight at 7 in the medical center’s Mother Joseph Room at 101 W. Eighth.
