GU chief appearing at Kaufer’s

The Rev. Robert Spitzer, president of Gonzaga University, will be the featured guest author at Wednesday’s After Hours program at 7 p.m. at Kaufer’s bookstore, 907 W. Boone.

Spitzer will be speaking about and signing copies of his newest book, “Healing the Culture: A Common Sense Philosophy of Happiness, Freedom and the Life Issues.” The event is free and open to the public.

Popular author to lecture

Neale Donald Walsch has been selected as the speaker for this year’s St. Stephen’s Lecture Series. The author is well-known for his “Conversations With God” series. The first book in the trilogy spent over 100 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list and sold more than 1.5 million copies in 24 languages.

Walsch’s talk will focus on his newest book, titled “Communion With God.” The lecture is scheduled for 1 p.m. next Saturday at the WestCoast Grand Hotel, 303 W. North River Drive.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at 448-2255. Tickets may also be purchased in advance at Auntie’s Bookstore and Huckleberry’s Market in Spokane and at the Book and Game Co. in Coeur d’Alene.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat for Humanity.
