Connection: She’S Out

Idaho Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage is leaving office this year to keep a self-imposed term limits pledge of three terms.

Idaho’s other U.S. House member, Republican Mike Simpson, hasn’t taken such a pledge and opposes term limits.

Both the Republican and Democratic candidates to replace Chenoweth-Hage, Idaho Lt. Gov. Butch Otter and Moscow City Council president Linda Pall, and Idaho’s U.S. senators, Larry Craig and Mike Crapo, also have declined to climb on the term limits bandwagon.

Chenoweth-Hage has said she regrets her pledge, and now believes that it takes longer than six years to make inroads in Congress.

Nevertheless, she’s leaving office.
