WSU Soccer Makes Top 25
After earning its second ever spot in the NCAA College Cup, the Washington State women’s soccer team has earned its first national ranking of the season. The Cougs, ranked 21st nationally, received votes the last two weeks before cracking the Top 25 after a 1-0 upset of third-ranked Washington.
WSU has been ranked regionally for most of the season, but this is the first time it has earned a national ranking. The last time the Cougars earned a national ranking was in 1994, also the last time they went to the NCAA tournament. WSU was ranked as high as 19th that year.
The Cougs will host the first round of the NCAA College Cup with Montana on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cougar Soccer Field. Admission will be charged as mandated by the NCAA, $7 for adults and $5 for students, youths and senior citizens.
Tickets are on sale now at the Pullman ticket office or by phone at 335-9626 or 800-GO-COUGS, option three.
Tickets will also be sold at the gate. The Sports Pass does not work for WSU students at this event.

Nofoaiga, a senior linebacker from Tacoma, won the defensive award by making 15 tackles, two for losses, in a 16-14 road win over North Texas on Saturday.
Davis made 3 of 4 field goals, including the game-winner from 21 yards with four seconds left to capture the special teams honor.
Utah State’s Emmett White, who set an NCAA record for all-purpose yardage with 578 in a 44-37 win over New Mexico State, won the offensive award.
