Richard Thorp Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Richard T. “Dick” Thorp, 70, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden (Idaho) Chapel. A reception will follow at the Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center.
Mr. Thorp, who was born in Athol, Idaho, died Tuesday.
In 1948 he married Donna Laabs, and they settled in Hayden Lake, Idaho.
He served in the Army in World War II and the Korean War. He then returned to the Coeur d’Alene area and worked for Kaiser Aluminum for many years. He retired in 1979.
Mr. Thorp traveled south during winter months and frequently went on fishing trips to his cabin in Montana.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Donna; a daughter, Glenda Carriveau of Las Vegas; two sons, Dick Thorp of Coeur d’Alene and Joe Thorp of Hayden Lake; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Glen Kirsebom Post Falls
Memorial service for Glen A. Kirsebom, 64, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the North Country Chapel in Post Falls. Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kirsebom, who was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa, died Nov. 2. He served with the Navy as a truck driver for many years and later settled in Post Falls area resident.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; three sons, Douglas Kirsebom of Hastings, Minn., and Craig and Jeffry Kirsebom, both of Post Falls; a daughter, Donna Kirsebom of Chaska, Minn.; two sisters, Marjorie Nelson of Minnesota and Barbara Watson of Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Carol (Palmer) Howard Palouse, Wash.
Service for Carol Ruth (Palmer) Howard, 61, was Wednesday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse.
Mrs. Howard, who was born in Colfax, Wash., died Saturday.
She grew up near Farmington, Wash., and graduated in 1957 from Oakesdale (Wash.) High School.
In 1957 she married Cecil Howard. They lived in Palouse until moving to the Howard farm north of Palouse in 1972.
Mrs. Howard began working as a clerk at the Holland Library on the Washington State University campus in 1980. She worked at the library for 20 years.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Tim Howard of Garfield, Wash., Bill Howard of Troy, Idaho, and Jim Howard of Port Orchard, Wash.; her mother, Ruth Palmer of Farmington; a brother, Alvin Palmer of Potlatch, Idaho; a sister, Greta Pool of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.

Donald Nash Spokane
Service for Donald H. Nash, 76, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nash, who was born in Devils Lake, N.D., died Sunday.
He began working for the Great Northern Railroad in 1939 as a machinist apprentice in Minot, N.D. In 1942 he graduated from high school in Minot.
Mr. Nash served in the Army Air Corps form 1942 to 1946 and was a B-25 Pilot. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He later returned to Minot and worked for the railroad.
Mr. Nash moved to Spokane in 1956 and worked for the railroad. He retired from Burlington Northern as superintendent of locomotives in 1982.
He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the Burlington Northern Veterans Association.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jo; a son, Steven Nash, and two daughters, Connie Mutton and Donna Whitehall, all of Spokane; a brother, Frank Nash of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Letha (Luce) Lamb Spokane
Graveside service for Letha Margaret (Luce) Lamb, 86, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Moscow (Idaho) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Albeni Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Lamb died Monday.
She graduated from Priest River (Idaho) High School and in 1939 married Mark Lamb.
They lived in Elk River, Idaho, where they owned Lamb’s Bar and Grill for about 35 years.
After her husband died in 1979, she moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Lamb is survived by a sister, Mildred Peterson of Greenacres.

Frank `Red’ Bennett Leidt Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Service for Frank “Red” Bennett Leidt, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.
Mr. Leidt, who was born in Los Angeles, died Monday.
He grew up and attended college for two years in California before serving with the Army Air Corps as a pilot instructor and a cargo pilot during World War II.
In 1944 he married Nellie Taylor. They returned to California after his military discharge in 1946.
The couple moved to Ozark, Ark., in the late 1940s and raised turkeys. They farmed for four years before returning to California, where he worked for Union Carbide and several other companies. Mr. Leidt then owned B & R Appliance and Repair in Carlsbad, Calif. They moved to Sagle, Idaho, in 1977.
In Sagle he owned Frank’s Appliance Repair and founded the Sagle Flea Market with a partner, Royce Bond.
He was divorced in 1985 and married Grace Schuon that year.
Mr. Leidt sold his appliance business in 1989 and worked for Motel 6 for 18 months before health problems forced his retirement. He then moved to Bonners Ferry, where he was active in square dancing and woodcarving.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sallie Davis of Oceanside, Calif.; a son, Frank Leidt of Boulder Creek, Calif.; his former wife, Nellie Corstens of Carlsbad; five stepchildren, Debbie Wood of Sagle, Maryann Frans of Spokane, Edith Erickson of Bonners Ferry, David Frans of Coeur d’Alene and Billie Hubbell of Roy, Wash.; nine stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Marjorie `Midge’ Orsburn Spokane
Visitation for Marjorie “Midge” Orsburn, 59, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint.
Born in Cottage Grove, Ore., Mrs. Orsburn died Saturday.
She was a 23-year Spokane resident and worked as a sales clerk in the retail clothing industry.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Shoopman of Kingman, Ariz.; a daughter, Missy Nadvornick of Spokane; her mother, Pearl Callen of Sandpoint; three brothers, John, Clyde and Bill Callen; her grandmother, Marjorie Springer of Sandpoint; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Edessa Keyes Deer Park
Service for Edessa G. Keyes, 90, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer/Kelly Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Keyes, who was born in Lang Creek, N.D., died Monday.
She graduated from high school in 1926 in Crosby, N.D., and from the Sisters of Mercy School of Nursing in Williston, N.D., in the early 1930s.
Mrs. Keyes and her husband, Donald, moved to Deer Park in 1945. From 1945 to 1973 they owned the Deer Park Drug Store.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Her husband died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Keyes of Greenaces; two daughters, Louanna Hembree-Keyes of Spokane and Kay Parking of Deer Park; four brothers, Nace Halpin of Seattle, Jerry Halpin of Raymond, Wash., Fred Halpin of Cincinnati and Art Halpin of Chicago; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edwin Jones Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Edwin H. Jones, 75, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones, who was born in Pueblo, Colo., died Monday.
In 1959 he married Virginia Mahan. They lived in Spokane before settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1961.
He served as a retail clothing sales manager at Harvey’s for 26 years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coeur d’Alene Rotary, Optomists and Kiwanis clubs and also served on the Coeur d’Alene City Council for four years.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kirk Jones of Seattle, Erik Jones of Phoenix, and Bruce Jones of Lakewood, Colo.; and one grandson, Justin.

Phillip Taylor Spokane
Memorial service for Phillip E. Taylor, 75, will be at 11 a.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor, who was born in The Dalles, Ore., died Tuesday.
In 1946 he married Bonnie Kearney.
He was a Spokane resident for more than 30 years and worked as a truck driver for Safeway for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brent Taylor of Othello, Wash., and Kirk Taylor of Seattle; a daughter, Lynn Seim of Okotoks, Alberta; a sister, Marion Farmer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Johnny Cathey Spokane
Burial for Johnny D. Cathey, 57, was Monday at Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Cathey, who died Friday, was born in Port Angeles, Wash. He moved to Spokane 16 years ago from Port Orchard, Wash.
Mr. Cathey had worked as a sales clerk for K-Mart and the American Automobile Association.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Carol; four sons, Lucas Peterson of Yakima, Jerry and Levi Peterson, both of Port Orchard, and Johnny Cathey of Minnesota; four daughters, Melissa Cathey of Spokane, Lydia Heagy of Reardan, Wash., Alicia Peterson of Port Orchard and Patricia Glover of Salt Lake City; two stepchildren, Regina Ross of Spokane and Matthew Devenera of Anchorage, Alaska; his mother, Katherine Cathey of Spokane; four brothers, Bob, Roger, Richard and David Cathey; four sisters, Bonnie Duprie, Patsy Graham, Barbara Williams and Karen Flescher; and 10 grandchildren.
Shirley Kimball Spokane
Private service will be held at a later date for Shirley Kimball. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Cloquet, Minn., Mrs. Kimball died Sunday. She was 76.
She was a 58-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband of 50 years, Gerald, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Kimball of Spokane; two daughters, Mona Madison of Spokane and Sherry Eldred of Goldendale, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Ervin of Newman Lake and Francis Ervin of Durham, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
