Sale Supports Two Groups
Avon representatives in the Spokane area have banded together to sell stuffed lions. They are raising money to donate to the Ronald McDonald House and the Children’s Miracle Network.
They will be selling the “Pounce de Lion” plush toys through Dec. 15.
The toys themselves will be donated to sick children bearing the name of the person who purchased them.
Avon representatives will be on hand at all Spokane-area Napa stores Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon selling lions. The cost, $16.99, is tax deductible.
Dinner helps poor children
The Spokane Chapter of Hearts in Motion will host its annual dinner fund-raiser Friday. It will be at the Valley Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 40th and Bowdish. The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., and the cost is $15 at the door.
The Hearts in Motion group is a national nonprofit organization made up of doctors, dentists, nurses and other health professionals who volunteer their time to provide health care to the poor in Guatemala, Mexico and Colombia. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to bring children from Guatemala to Spokane for needed orthopedic and oral surgeries.
