Fraternities, Sororities At UI Recently Honored

Sororities and fraternities from the University of Idaho were recently honored at national and international conventions.

Awards were presented based on community service, scholarship, overall excellence, chapter efficiency and alumni correspondence.

Recipients and their awards are:

Phi Gamma Delta fraternity: William S. Zerman Trophy for extra-curricular activities, the Newton D. Barker Award for social service, the Orion H. Cheney Efficiency Award, the Riverda Harding Jordan Bowl for highest overall scholarship, the Owen Coon Plaque for best publication, the Horace T. Brightman Award for graduate relations, the Chapter Proficiency Award (for the 16th year), and the Superior Academic Achievement Award( for the 11th year). Fraternity advisor Jim Hill, Moscow, won the Francis M. Darrance Award.

Associated Students of University of Idaho president Bart Cochran, of Sandpoint received the Clarence E. Brehm Award for best nonsenior undergraduate student in the nation for Alpha Kappa Lambda.

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Chapter Efficiency Award.

Phi Beta Phi: Spirit Award for pride displayed by individual members, and Honorable Mention for the Frances Rosser Brown Award for Best Fraternity Heritage Programming.

Delta Gamma: Foundation Award, the Patricia Peterson Daniels Award for overall chapter excellence, and the Academic Award for the Northwest.

Kappa Delta: Best Chapter Advisory Board for Region IV of the Northwest, the Emerging Excellence Award, and the SCholastic Achievement Award.

Beta Theta Pi: Francis H. Sisson Award for chapter excellence (for the sixth year), and the Virginia Tech Award for scholastic achievement in the Northwest region.

Sigma Chi: Peterson Significant Chapter Award for chapter excellence, Legion of Honor Award for commendable scholarship program.

Alpha Kappa Lambda: fifth consecutive Founder’s Award for best AKL Chapter in the nation, and various education, community service and intramural honors.

Phi Delta Theta: membership recruitment award, and community service citation.

Sigma Nu: honorable mention for Rock Chapter Award for chapter excellence.

Delta Chi: Chapter Excellence Award, President’s Cup Award, and also received various outstanding awards in community service, membership recruitment and alumni newsletter.
