Land Lease Decision Delayed

Community Cable hasn’t settled on a place to move its satellite dishes.

So the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District won’t make a decision this week about whether to lease land to the cable company.

Director Lee Mellish said he received a letter from a Community Cable representative after he prepared the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Sewer and Water District Commissioners. It is listed as an “action item” on the agenda.

“We’ll probably discuss it because there were some people who came last time with concerns about it, but we won’t be making a decision,” Mellish said.

Community Cable is still considering several sites to which it might move its five large satellite dishes and a small building for electronic controls. One spot the company has contemplated is a small parcel north on Sprague Avenue in Liberty Lake that is owned by the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District.

Project manager David Vander Meer said Community Cable eventually wants to move the facility, which is now located at the old Holiday Hills resort. That area has been approved for residential development and will eventually be surrounded by homes.

Vander Meer said the company wants to find a new spot that will work well for the satellite dishes without upsetting any neighbors.

Community Cable, or CCS, serves about 1,400 subscribers in Liberty Lake and about 4,200 people total in Eastern Washington. It offers about 70 channels and 12 digital channels.
