Linen Maker Targets Spokane
A Spokane Valley manufacturer that opened in June is reevaluating its target audience.
Spokane Luxury Linens has decided to target Spokane customers, said owner Shirley Smith-Bock.
The business, which specializes in satin linens and makes everything from satin crib sheets to table skirts, had been doing business over the Internet. More recently, it began taking orders by phone, using word-of-mouth to get its name out.
But when orders from the Spokane area began to trickle in, Smith-Bock decided it was time to focus more attention on the local market.
To raise her company’s profile, Smith-Bock and her husband set up a booth during last month’s Green Bluff harvest festival.
Most people were surprised to find a fine-satin manufacturer in Spokane, Smith-Bock said.
The business is run mostly by Smith-Bock with help from her husband, Tom Bock, who also owns B and B Enterprises General Contracting.
Smith-Bock said she would like to expand the Spokane Luxury Linens manufacturing facility at 12406 E. Desmet, Suite D, into a store that customers can walk into.
New storage facility planned
The owners of Sports World in Liberty Lake plan to build a storage facility at the athletic complex.
The 280-unit storage facility will consist of eight buildings totaling 56,000 square feet. One building will be heated for storing records and documents.
The units will range from 50 square feet to 540 square feet.
Construction of the $900,000 facility at the northeast corner of the Sports World complex will begin in about 30 days, said Rob Lewis, president of Sports World Inc. Sports World includes softball fields and a restaurant.
Spokane Structures, which is also owned by Lewis, will be the contractor for the project.
The storage facility will provide 24-hour security and be managed by two employees, Lewis said.
When construction is completed in May, Lewis will be left with nine undeveloped acres on the 32-acres site he purchased for Sports World three years ago.
