Interfaith Thanksgiving service
Temple Beth Shalom will host an interfaith Thanksgiving service Thursday at 10 a.m. Hundreds of people from a variety of faith communities are expected to attend the annual event, which is sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries.
The featured speaker this year is Ferris Paisano, a member of the Nez Perce tribe and the Baha’i Faith. He will speak on “Circle of Healing.”
The offering will be shared between the council and the Second Harvest Food Bank. Canned goods will also be accepted. The temple is located at 1322 E. 30th.
Pastor prayer and fellowship
Spokane-area pastors are invited to attend a prayer breakfast at the Whitworth College chapel at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. The meal will be hosted by college president Bill Robinson and Jim Edwards, a professor of religion at Whitworth.

The sacred art of dying
The Providence Center for Faith and Healing is teaming up with St. Joseph Family Center to offer a two-day workshop called “The Sacred Art of Dying: Diagnosing and Addressing Spiritual Pain.” The workshop will be held Nov. 27 and 28 at Providence Auditorium at Sacred Heart Medical Center, 101 W. Eighth.
The workshop is designed for caregivers of all types, including chaplains, nurses, physicians and social workers. Those attending will learn ways to reduce death anxiety in the critically ill. Continuing education credits are available.
The featured speakers are Richard and Mary Groves, founders and directors of the Sacred Art of Living Education and Retreat Center in Bend, Ore.
The cost of the workshop is $330, which included a workbook, certificate of completion and two meals per day. Accommodations at St. Joseph Family Center or the Travelodge are available for an additional charge.

Speaker to discuss Israel
Mission Community Presbyterian Church will host a guest speaker from Jerusalem on Sunday. The Rev. Ed Smelser, chaplain of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem, will speak at 7 p.m.
Smelser will be speaking on current events happening in Israel. The event is free.
