Mount Spokane State Park

Volunteers with a deep interest in the operations and future of Mount Spokane can apply for openings on the Mount Spokane State Park Advisory Committee.

Various user groups are represented on the panel to advise the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission on matters concerning the state’s flagship park.

“Since 1995, the committee has provided detailed suggestions regarding the parks land classifications, resource protection, trail use and development, land acquisitions and boundaries, as well as park interpretation and signage,” said Cris Currie, committee chair.

The panel created a separate nonprofit group called the Friends of Mount Spokane State Park, which organizes volunteers for park improvement projects.

Committee members represent groups such as hikers, equestrians, cyclists, snowmobilers, skiers, environmentalists, business people and educators, Currie said.
