Daines Hurt In Collision

Spokane Valley high-tech entrepreneur Bernard Daines suffered severe neck injuries after his sport utility vehicle and another car collided last week.

Doctors at Valley Hospital and Medical Center fitted Daines with a head immobilizer after finding one broken neck vertebra and a crack in a joint between two other vertebrae.

Full recovery is expected. Daines, 56, should be released from the hospital this week and will return to work at World Wide Packets soon.

He is founder and CEO of the Valley tech company, which designs network hardware to bring high-speed data to homes and businesses.

“I’m probably going to wear the neck immobilizer for three months,” Daines said Monday from his hospital room. He said the injury will not impact on company operations.

The accident occurred Thursday evening near Sprague and Park.

Daines was a passenger in a Lincoln Navigator driven by his wife, Marsha Daines.

The Daines vehicle rolled after it and a car traveling at right angles to theirs collided, said Daines.

Both Daines and his wife were treated at the hospital and released that evening. The next morning, a physician reviewed his X-rays and had Daines return for more treatment.
