Ralda `Mickey’ Brown Spokane
Service for Ralda “Mickey” Brown, a retired Spokane teacher, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Jesuit House Chapel. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
A 45-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Brown died Thursday. She was 87.
She was born in Colville, Wash., where she graduated from high school in 1930.
Mrs. Brown received a teaching certificate from Cheney Normal School in 1933.
During the early 1950s she taught school in Vancouver, Wash., and Longview, Wash.
In 1957 she received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. She received a master’s degree in education from Whitworth College in 1970.
Mrs. Brown taught elementary school for School District 81 for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Wesley; a son, Steve Phillabaum of Deer Park; two sisters, Susan Diehl of Sandpoint and Thelma Overby of Napa, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Gladys `Hap’ Birch Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for Gladys I. “Hap” Birch, 65, will be at 11 a.m. today at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. A gathering will follow at Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center.
Mrs. Birch, who was born in Ellensburg, died Saturday.
She grew up in Thorp, Wash., and graduated from high school there in 1953. She attended the Washington State College pre-nursing program.
Mrs. Birch married Les Birch in 1956. They settled in Pullman, where she worked at Washington State University for 20 years. She also helped her husband operate various restaurants in Pullman and Spokane until moving to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1985.
The couple moved to Hayden in 1988. She had worked at Silverwood Theme Park for the last three and a half years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bud Birch of Newport, Wash., and Michael Birch of Longview, Wash.; three daughters, Kim Tangeman, Peggy Birch and Shari Rausch, all of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.
Lawrence Power Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for Lawrence Patrick Power, 78, will be at 11 a.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Power, who was born in Kellogg, died Thursday.
He was an Air Force veteran and later moved to the Spokane Valley and worked for Ryder Trucking for 32 years. He retired in 1994.
He moved to Hayden in 1987 and was a member of the Spokane Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; three children, Betty Odlaug of Snohomish, Wash., and Marianne Thompson and Loren Power, both of Everett; three stepchildren, David and Michael McClarty, both of Spokane, and Deborah Scrivner of Pullman; a brother, Sprague Power of Kellogg; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lucille Hecket Spokane
Vigil service for Lucille A. Hecket, 89, will be at 7 p.m. today at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is planned for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Thornton, Wash., Mrs. Hecket died Saturday.
She moved to Spokane in 1937. She later received a teaching degree from Cheney Normal School.
Mrs. Hecket worked as a cook for the Central Valley School District for 16 years.
She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Teddy Hecket of Spokane and Harry Hecket of Carson City, Nev.; two daughters, Charm Stanek and Ann Marie Horn, both of Spokane; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Emil `Gene’ Pruitt Spokane
Memorial service for Emil “Gene” Pruitt, 89, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
A 70-year Spokane resident, Mr. Pruitt died Friday. He was born in Dayton, Wash.
He worked for the Spokane Fire Department for 32 years. He retired in 1971 as battalion chief.
Mr. Pruitt was a Christian and was a member of the Retired Fireman’s Association.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Evelyn; three daughters, Julie Abner, Vicki Taylor and Sidney Cartwright; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bertha Larkin Spokane
Visitation for Bertha S. Larkin, 85, will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m to noon Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Larkin died Thursday. She was born in Honolulu.
She worked in housekeeping at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Donald Larkin; two daughters, Roberta Felix and Katherine Larkin; one brother; four sisters; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rudell Hibdon Spokane
Service for Rudell Hibdon, 81, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pines Baptist Church. Graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Benton City (Wash.) Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 27-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Hibdon died Saturday. She was born in Texas.
She worked in the bakery department for Albertson’s in the Spokane Valley and Kennewick.
Mrs. Hibdon was a member of Pines Baptist Church.
Her husband, Claude, died in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice Mostek of Spokane; six sons, Claude and Wayne Hibdon, both of Spokane, Louis Hibdon of Benton City, Dennis Hibdon of Lakeville, Minn., Jesse Hibdon of Vacaville, Calif., and Steven Hibdon of Bremerton; a brother, Wilbur Autry of Portland; two sisters, Willie Korslund of Othello, Wash., and Inez Mowrey of Kennewick; 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

James Hale Spokane
Memorial service for James Clarke Hale, 78, was Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Hale died Friday.
He graduated from West Valley High School.
Mr. Hale served in the Army during World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific.
He worked for Inland Asphalt and later worked in maintenance at the Spokane County fairgrounds.
Mr. Hale is survived by his wife of 51 years, Flora; and a sister, Roberta Stermer of Augusta, Mich.

Neva McLaughlin Spokane
Graveside service for Neva McLaughlin, 89, was Monday at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Memorial service followed at Foothills Community Church.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. McLaughlin died Wednesday.
She graduated from West Valley High School in 1929.
In 1930 she married Howard McLaughlin.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a homemaker and a member of the Central Grange and the Blue Ribbon Circle.
Her husband died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Bruce McLaughlin of Spokane; seven daughters, Alta Reed, Loreen Shearer, Sandra Perry, Kathleen Fundahn and Sheila Endicott, all of Spokane, Lyla Fricke of Deer Park and Elaine Sanders of Seattle; a sister, Shirley Lovett of Boston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Iolanda (Grandinetti) Cannata Spokane
Visitation for Iolanda Carmella (Grandinetti) Cannata, 79, will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Cannata, who was born in Spezzano Piccolo, Italy, died Saturday.
She married Salvatore “Sam” Cannata. They came to the United States in 1939 and settled in Spokane.
Mrs. Cannata was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean Williams, Elaine Flynn and Rose Aquino; three sons, Bob, George and Frank Cannata; two brothers, Sam Grandinetti of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Luigi Grandinetti of Burnaby, British Columbia; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

John DePaolo Spokane
Funeral Mass for John F. DePaolo, 73, was Monday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. DePaolo died Thursday.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. DePaolo worked as an antique dealer in the Spokane area.
He was a member of the Blackfeet Indian Tribe and St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He was a member of the church choir for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Genevieve; five sons, Austin, John, Joe and James DePaolo, all of Spokane, and Nicholas DePaolo of Seattle; five daughters, Sheila Brooks, and Lucy and Mary DePaolo, all of Spokane, and Anastasia Feinstein and Jane DePaolo, both of Seattle; a brother, Roy DePaolo of Dale City, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Frank Hubof Post Falls
Memorial service for Frank Hubof, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hubof, who was born in Regent, N.D., died Friday.
He moved to Post Falls in 1945 and married Thelma Boston in 1947.
Mr. Hubof worked locally as a self-employed wholesale delivery driver for many years and then drove a fuel truck for Panhandle Helicopter until 1990.
He attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Post Falls Eagles Lodge, the American Legion and was a charter member of the Post Falls Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jon and Bob Hubof, both of Post Falls; three brothers, John Hubof of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, Russell Hedge of Post Falls and Merle Hedge of Coeur d’Alene; five sisters, Rose Rohr of Dickinson, N.D., Eleanor Meredith of Joshua Tree, Calif., Agnes Smith and Darlene Lenz, both of Post Falls, and Mert Roske of Pasco; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mary `Betty’ Clark Rathdrum, Idaho
Memorial service for Mary E. “Betty” Clark, 88, will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Lakeland First Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rathdrum. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clark, who was born in Clark Fork, Idaho, died Thursday.
She worked as a chef for many years at the Flamingo Restaurant in Spokane and later moved to Rathdrum.
Her husband, Charles, died in 1981.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Survivors include a son, Franklin Clark of Spokane; two daughters, Ida “Skippy” Du Charme of Colorado, and Margaret “Pat” Perrenoud of Rathdrum; a brother, Jack Fleming of Missoula, Mont.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
