College Roundup UI Golfer Second
Doug McClure of the University of Idaho, with a three-round total of 221, finished a stroke back of J.R. Ruda of California to take second place in the Pacific Invitational on the Reserve Golf Course in Stockton, Calif.
UI was fifth as a team at 877.
San Diego State won with 845.
Washington State, missing their scoring leader, Dustin White, who was ill and did not make the trip, finished 11th at 889 with Jon Reehoorn leading the Cougars at 220 for 26th overall. There were 17 teams in the field.

Whitworth defensive end Sky Blake was named Northwest Conference defensive player of the week. The 6-foot-5, 221-pound senior recorded a game-high 19 tackles (11 unassisted and one for a 2-yard loss) and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter as the Pirates rallied to beat Simon Fraser 30-29.
