William Musson Post Falls

Memorial service for William Jeffrey “Bill” Musson, 41, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Musson, recent director of the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department, died Wednesday.

He was born in Corvallis, Ore., and received a bachelor of science degree in recreation and parks management from the University of Oregon in 1981.

Mr. Musson was a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and served as program director of the Associated Student Union. He was peer advising coordinator for the recreation and parks management department at UO. He was a student representative to the Faculty Assembly and the University Senate from the College of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Dance and Gerontology.

From 1981 to 1987 he worked as the Soldotna Community Schools specialist in recreation for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District in Kenai, Alaska. He later became an administrative assistant to the director of Parks and Recreation in Kenai.

Mr. Musson became the director of Parks and Recreation in Petersburg, Alaska, from 1991 until 1997. He moved to Colchester, Vt., and was in charge of more than 300 acres as the Parks and Recreation director there.

In August 1999 he was hired as the Post Falls Parks and Recreation director.

Mr. Musson was a member of Rotary International, Lions International, Boys Scouts of America, Vermont Recreation and Park Association, Alaska Recreation and Park Association, and the National Recreation and Park Association and was a charter board member of the Colchester Tourism Council.

He was certified as a leisure professional and a pool/spa operator and in parks and recreation management, parks planning and maintenance and parks and recreation safety.

He also was a recipient of the Alaska Recreation and Park Association Professional Award and the Young Professional Award, the Kenai Lion of the Year Award, Outstanding Community School Personnel-Small Town from the Alaska Association for Community Education and received the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Gold Star Award for outstanding service.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Carol; three sons, Jonathan Musson of Burlington, Vt., and Ben and Andy Musson, both of Post Falls; a daughter, Amelia Musson of Post Falls; his parents, Gerald and Jean Musson of Waldport, Ore.; and two sisters, Diana Williamson and Carol DeGraw, both of Oregon.

Myra `Gaye’ Makinster Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Myra “Gaye” Makinster, 80, will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Makinster, who was born in Montana, died Tuesday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Roundup, Mont., in 1938. She married Archie Makinster in 1939, and they lived in Minnesota.

In 1944 they moved to Montana where they lived in Billings and St. Ignatius until 1974, when they moved to Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Makinster was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius Catholic Church and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Auxiliary.

Her husband died in May.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Makinster of Tulsa, Okla., and Ron Makinster of Portland; two daughters, Barbara Fatzinger of Kamiah, Idaho, and Terri Sande of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Faye Holliday of Roundup; and nine grandchildren.

Dolores Stuart Spokane

Funeral Mass for Dolores R. Stuart, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Stuart died Sunday.

She moved to Spokane in 1948.

Mrs. Stuart worked as a registered nurse at St. Anne’s Children Home.

She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

Her husband, Thomas, died in 1988.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas Jr., Richard and Patrick Stuart, all of Spokane, and Michael Stuart of Port Orchard, Wash.; two daughters, Lorraine of Spokane and Susan of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Robert Morrison of Frazer, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund.

Victor Dauer Edmonds, Wash.

No service will be held for Victor P. Dauer, a former professor emeritus of Washington State University. Purdy and Walters with Cassidy in Everett, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Dauer, who was born in Hammond, Ind., died Saturday. He was 91.

He received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Indiana in 1932. He received a doctorate in education from the University of Michigan in 1951.

Dr. Dauer joined the men’s physical education department at Washington State University shortly after graduating from the University of Michigan. He retired in 1974.

While working at the university he authored two books, “Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children” and “Essential Movement Experience for Preschool and Primary Children.”

He received numerous national and international honors in the field of physical education. In 1973 he received the Outstanding Educator in America Award.

Dr. Dauer and his wife of 58 years, Alice, moved to Edmonds 11 years ago. She died in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Theodore Dauer of Edmonds and Thomas Dauer of Walnut Creek, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Olga Wolff Spokane

Visitation for Olga H. Wolff, 92, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will follow at 4 p.m. in the Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wolff, who was born in Flom, Minn., died Monday.

She was a 60-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Her husband, Cyrus, died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Corrine Dewey and Bonnie Aagard, both of Spokane; two sons, Morris Wolff of Spokane and Gary Wolff of Orange County, Calif.; two sisters, Millie Eyre of Montana and Deloris Hollingsworth of Georgia; three brothers, Orrin Peterson of Montana and Clifford and Kenneth Peterson, both of Oregon; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Delphine (Sporlein) Lieske Deer Park

Private burial for Delphine Magdalene (Sporlein) Lieske, 70, will be Saturday at Zion Hill Cemetery in Clayton, Wash. Memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church in Spokane. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lieske, who was born in Minneapolis, died Friday.

She married Raymond Lieske in 1948, and they lived in Deer Park.

She was a homemaker and later worked as a seamstress for K&L Manufacturing in Spokane.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Allen Lieske of Priest Lake, Idaho; three daughters, Marie Liere of Spokane, Martha Wilson of Summit Valley, Wash., and Margaret Craner of Sagle, Idaho; eight brothers and sisters; and 11 grandchildren.

Laura Sausser Spokane

No service will be held for Laura Marie (Griffith) Sausser, 73, at her request. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sausser, who was born in Reardan, Wash., died Friday.

She was a longtime Spokane resident and a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Kellberg, Eilene Prescott and Rose Roque, all of Spokane; three sons, Thomas Griffith of Spokane, Dennis Sausser of Coeur d’Alene and Jason Roque of Salt Lake City; a brother, Eugene Griffith, and a sister, Nellie Mason, both of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mary Darst Carrollton, Texas

Graveside service for Mary “Marjorie” Darst, 92, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

A former longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Darst died Monday.

She was a homemaker and a member of Crestline Church of the Nazarene in Spokane.

Her husband, C. Calvin, died in 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Tarkinton of Little Elm, Texas; two sons, Bill Darst of Little Elm and John Darst of Anchorage, Alaska; and two grandchildren.

Dorothy Pulliam Deer Park

Service for Dorothy Eleanor Pulliam, 82, was held Thursday at Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park. Burial followed at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pulliam, who was born in Calgary, Alberta, died Sunday.

She was a 70-year Deer Park resident In 1935 she graduated from Riverside High School.

Mrs. Pulliam was a homemaker. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary 3067 and Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary 3564, both in Deer Park. She also was a member of the Deer Park Seniors Bowling League.

Her husband of 29 years, Jack, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Herb Floch of Des Moines, Wash.; four daughters, Dean Robb of Mead, Geraldine Heristad and Doll Fitzgerald, both of Spokane, and Pat Evans of Chattaroy; a brother, Donald Hatenburg of Spokane; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Paul Helme Spokane

Graveside service for Paul G. Helme, 42, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Washtucna, Wash. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Helme died Saturday. He was born in Ritzville and grew up in Washtucna.

During the early 1980s he worked in Saudi Arabia installing irrigation systems.

Mr. Helme returned to Eastern Washington and had lived in Spokane the past 15 years.

Survivors include four-half sisters, Janet Hester of Priest River, Idaho, Susan Beers of Blackfoot, Idaho, Katy Welsh of Los Angeles and Sheila Camp of Arkansas.

Donald Peters Spokane

Visitation for Donald Jay Peters, 74, will be from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Spangle Cemetery.

Mr. Peters, who was born in Rigby, Idaho, died Tuesday.

His family moved to the Spokane area 70 years ago and farmed in Spangle.

He worked as a general laborer for Goodwill Industries.

Mr. Peters was a resident at Lilac Plaza until recently moving to the Academy retirement community.

He is survived by two sisters, Wilma Erfurth of Spokane and Thelma Roessler of Santa Maria, Calif.

Narice Terhaar Spokane

Vigil service for Narice M. (Fincher) Terhaar will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Terhaar, 69, died last Friday.

She was a homemaker and a lifetime Spokane resident.

Her husband of 34 years, Donald, died in 1985.

Survivors include four sons, Bill and Tim Terhaar, both of Spokane, Robert Terhaar of Pullman and Mark Terhaar of Renton, Wash.; a daughter, Marla Terhaar of Spokane; a brother, Colin Fincher of San Luis Obisbo, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Dorothy Arms Spokane

Service for Dorothy Arms, 76, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Arms, who was born in Mace, Idaho, died Monday.

She owned and operated a janitorial service.

Mrs. Arms moved to Spokane 35 years ago.

She is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Onderick of San Jose, Calif., and Clara Easte of Mountain View, Calif.

William `Bill’ Boman Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for William Robert `Bill’ Bollman, 49, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Pinegrove Cemetery in Kooskia, Idaho. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Boman, who was born in Cottonwood, Idaho, died Wednesday.

He grew up in Kooskia and lived in Southern Idaho until moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1999.

He attended First Presbyterian Church of Kooskia.

He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, horses and dogs.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Bollman of Spokane; four sisters, Louise Hunter of Colorado Springs, Jean Gilmore of Coeur d’Alene, Peggy Miles of Idaho Falls and Mary Parker of Cheney; and his grandmother, Ruth Bollman of Spokane.
