Cda, G-Prep Win Bullpup
Coeur d’Alene’s boys and the host Gonzaga Prep girls won team titles Saturday at the 16th annual Bullpup Invitational cross country meet at Finch Arboretum.
The individual champions on the 5,000-meter course were Forest Braden of Bonners Ferry (16 minutes, 20 seconds) and Laura Halverson of Freeman (19:00).
Fifth-place Chris Vails (17:00) had the top time for CdA’s boys. The Vikings scored 107 points for a 15-point gap on Ferris.
CdA’s girls placed second with 89 points, 12 behind G-Prep. Fourth-place Holly Grant (19:59) led CdA.
Other top-10 finishers included Isaac Zenter, Sandpoint boys, third, 16:54; Aaron Hanson, Bonners Ferry boys, seventh, 17:11; Ethan Anyan, Post Falls boys, eighth, 17:23; Brenna Giesen, CdA girls, seventh, 20:29; and Ali Brush, Sandpoint girls, eighth, 20:31.
Nick Bradley (17:16) and Josh Corder (17:19) finished 1-2 to lead Lewiston’s boys to the team title at their invitational.
Lewiston edged defending champion Pullman 36-39. Pullman had all five of its runners in the top 12, led by third-place Brett Udy.
Pullman won the girls title on a tiebreaker over St. Maries. Both teams finished with 64 points after their top five runners were tabulated, but Pullman had a No. 6 runner competing and St. Maries didn’t.
Pullman freshman Lily Lee won in 22:11, just ahead of Moscow’s Emily Thiem (22:14). Lee was momentarily led off course by a college-aged participant.
Boys soccer
Anthony Facciano totaled two goals and two assists to lead Lake City (8-6, 6-3) to a 7-1 win over visiting Lakeland (5-9, 2-8) in the North Idaho League… . Also in the NIL, Ian Liebbrandt recorded a hat trick during Moscow’s 9-0 win over visiting Post Falls (0-14-1, 0-10). The Bears (8-4, 5-4) also played a non-leaguer against Bonners Ferry, with Liebbrandt contributing another three goals in an 8-0 win.
Girls soccer
Coleen Campbell had one goal and one assist in the second half to rally Post Falls (6-7, 3-4) to a 2-1 win at Colville (3-8-1, 1-7) in the Border League. Becky Thompson assisted on Campbell’s goal, which was hooked into the upper-left corner from 10 yards. Campbell later crossed a pass to Ryanne Smith at the top of the penalty box for the tiebreaking score. PF played without one of its top players, Katy Ridenour, who attended her sister’s wedding… . Also in the Border, Amanda Cravens scored twice in the first half to ignite Sandpoint (10-4-1, 6-1-1) to a 3-1 win at Moscow (9-6, 3-4)… . Lake City’s match at West Valley was postponed. No makeup date was announced.
Sara Sheridan scored to the far post in overtime to lift Pullman (6-3-2) to a 1-0 non-league win over visiting Lewiston (6-7-1). Pullman defender Emily Marsh set up the goal with a through ball to Sheridan, who was sprinting past defenders.

Lakeland wins
Lakeland (17-4, 7-1) kept alive a shot at the Intermountain League title by scoring the final 14 points of the match to complete a 14-16, 15-11, 15-3 comeback at Kellogg (4-4). Ashley Jamison had 14 digs and 23 assists for the Hawks. Kellogg won the first game after trailing 14-2… . Also in the IML, Holly Eberlin finished 13 of 13 serving, including the first eight points of the match, and first-place St. Maries (23-2, 7-0) blanked Timberlake 15-0, 15-0 at Spirit Lake. The Lumberjacks baffled the Tigers (1-8) with 10 aces. St. Maries plays Lakeland at home on Thursday.
The host Bulldogs defeated Clark Fork 16-14, 15-5 in the title match of the Genesee Tournament. Earlier in the tournament, Genesee knocked off Kootenai 15-5, 15-1.
