House of Charity on display The newly finished House of Charity will be the focus at this year’s Poor Man’s Meal.

The 15th annual event is a fundraiser that helps the shelter offer services to homeless men during winter.

The simple meal will be served at noon on Oct. 29 at the House of Charity, 32 W. Pacific.

Bishop William Skylstad of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane will offer a blessing.

People attending the event, which will last until 2 p.m., will also have the chance to tour the facility. There will be live entertainment.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by calling Catholic Charities at 358-4250.

Political responsibility topic

Religious leaders will gather for a discussion of “Faithful Citizenship: Conversations about Political Responsibility” at 7 p.m. Monday at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 8315 N. Wall. The event is sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries.

The featured speakers will be the Rev. Rick Melin, executive of the Presbyterian Church in Eastern Washington; Rev. Brenda Tudor of Centenary United Methodist Church, and Bishop William Skylstad of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane.
