The following physicians have been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society:
Dr. Melanie S. Lang has joined Dr. Mark C. Paxton and Associates in the practice of oral and maxillofacial and cosmetic surgery. Lang graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1991 with a DDS degree and received an MD degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1996. She completed an internship and residency at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in 1999 and a fellowship at the University of Alabama this year.
Dr. Jason H. Jones has joined Spokane Eye Clinic PS in the practice of ophthalmology. A 1995 graduate of Ohio State University College of Medicine, he completed an internship and residency at the Ohio State University Hospital in 1999. He also completed a fellowship at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary this year.
Dr. Monica J. Hardie has joined Dr. Michael Kerkering in the practice of internal medicine. She graduated from the University of Washington Medical School in 1994 and completed an internship and residency at Internal Medicine Spokane in 1997.
Dr. Monika A. Gottlieb has begun the practice of internal medicine at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed an internship at Indiana University Medical Center in 1998. She completed a residency at Internal Medicine Spokane this year.
Dr. Timothy W. Powell has joined the Rockwood Clinic in the practice of neurology. He graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 1994 and completed an internship and residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 1998. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham this year.
Dr. Cameron J. Seibold has joined Inland Imaging in the practice of radiology. A 1994 graduate of the University of Washington Medical School, he completed an internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1995 and a residency at Medical College of WI Affiliated Hospitals in 1999. He also completed a fellowship this year at the University of VA Health Sciences Center.
The Washington State Potato Commission has named Karen Bonaudi as director of public affairs and media relations, a new position created to enhance the Moses Lake-based commission’s activities in public and media relations areas, as well as to more effectively promote the industry to the public. Most recently, Bonaudi worked in public relations for the Columbia Basin Ground Water Management Area, as well as write articles for local newspapers and agricultural publications. Earlier, she was assistant to the president for college relations at Lower Columbia College. She is a past president of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations and the Washington Community and Technical College Public Information Commission.
Certifications:
Romona Morris and Sharon Johnson have completed examinations entitling them to use the certified professional secretary designation. Morris, who has been an active member of the Coeur d’Alene Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals since 1996, currently serves as treasurer of the Washington-Alaska Division. She holds an AAS degree in secretarial studies from North Idaho College and has worked as an administrative professional since 1995. Johnson, who has been an active member of the Coeur d’Alene Chapter of IAAP since 1994, earned an AS in business administration from NIC. She has held several officer positions with the local chapter and has worked at Ross Point Camp and Conference Center as an administrative assistant since 1983.
Kudos:
Coeur d’Alene Mines Silver Valley mine rescue team has won the year 2000 mine rescue competition over teams from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Washington. The winning Coeur team represented the Central Mine Rescue organization at the National Mine Rescue Competition in July. This is the second time in five years that the Coeur Silver Valley Inc. team has gone on to the national competition and the third year out of the last four it won at the regional level.
Scott and Tessa Fitzgerald, owners of Adventures in Advertising Spokane, have earned Adventures in Advertising’s Velocity award. The award recognizes AIA franchise owners who have increased their sales volume by a commendable amount within the past year. The Fitzgeralds logged a 114 percent sales increase.
Cort L. Wilcox of D.A. Davidson & Co. Inc. in Coeur d’Alene has been elected to membership in the Nuveen Advisory Council. The council is a select group of investment professionals from throughout the nation who have exhibited continuing excellence in the field of financial counseling, particularly in the principles of conservative investing for mature investors.
