When it comes to field burning, my wife and I debate whether the sky is half visible or half obscured. Driving across the Rathdrum Prairie on Highway 41 on Thursday, my wife sniffed indignantly: “Look at the haze from all the forest fires. And they want to begin burning fields again?” Meanwhile, this Potatohead enjoyed the wide-open view offered by fields of mint, alfalfa and dormant grass seed.
