Donnalee (Coombs) McLeod Spokane
Service for Donnalee (Coombs) McLeod, 72, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2nd Ward. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Deer Lodge, Mont.
A 55-year Spokane resident, Mrs. McLeod died Thursday. She was born in Deer Lodge.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane for 15 years.
Mrs. McLeod was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Mark McLeod of Kennewick; three daughters, Dyanna Urgenson of Riverside, Calif., Mary Thomsen of Rosamond, Calif., and Cherrie Atkins of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Pam Zyltra of Onalaska, Wash., and Nita Shaddock of Phoenix; and 15 grandchildren.
William Callaway Silverton, Idaho
No service will be held for William Andrew ‘Bill’ Callaway, 85, at his request. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Callaway, who was born in Chewelah, Wash., died Friday.
He lived in Chewelah before settling in the Silver Valley in 1926.
He graduated with scholastic honors from Wardner-Kellogg High School in 1933. He then studied at business colleges in Spokane and Seattle and later worked for Federal Mining and Smelting Co. in Wallace.
He also was a bookkeeper at the Highland Surprise before going to work for Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. He retired in 1980 as a secretary-treasurer after 36 years of service.
Mr. Callaway was a member of Shoshone County Search and Rescue, Shoshone County Sportsmen’s Association, the Idaho Wildlife Federation, the National Rifle Association, the Wallace Pistol Club and the Wallace Elks Lodge.
He and taught hunter safety classes for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife of 34 years, Marie, died in 1974.
Survivors include two daughters, Fran Luxford of Battle Ground, Wash., and Bev Asher of Osburn, Idaho; a sister, Ruth Smith of Seattle; a granddaughter, ShelliJo; and two great-grandsons, Jarek and Jori.

Dwaine Brewster Spokane
Memorial service for Dwaine A. Brewster, 79, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mr. Brewster, who was born in Estherville, Iowa, died last Tuesday.
His family moved to Salem, Ore., when he was a child.
He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Willamette University in Oregon and a master’s degree in chemistry from Oregon State University.
In 1945 he married Barbara Dawson. They moved to Spokane in 1949 from Gustine, Calif.
Mr. Brewster worked as chief chemist at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood for more than 32 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies the El Katif Shrine, Order of DeMolay, Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. He also was a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen Brewster of Davenport, Wash.; two daughters, Sherrie Brewster of Spokane and Linda Green of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of the Nile Fund for the Shriners Hospital for Children, or the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Wesley `Pat’ Jasper Sandpoint
Service for Wesley Clayton “Pat” Jasper, 87, was Saturday at ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Priest River, Idaho. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
Born in Wilbur, Wash., Mr. Jasper died Aug. 28.
In 1934 he married Opal Kyes.
He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps before working at the Schaefer-Hitchcock Lumbermill poleyard for 18 years, and for the Diamond Match Co. in Oldtown, Idaho, for 18 years.
Mrs. Jasper and his family lived in Bonner County, Idaho, at Freeman Lake, and in Laclede, Idaho, and Priest River until recently moving to Sandpoint.
He was a member of the Freeman Lake Grange and was a volunteer with the Priest River Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Andrew Jasper of Oldtown; a daughter, Lareta Davis of Spokane; two granddaughters, two stepgrandsons and six great-grandchildren.
John Guido Spokane
Memorial service for John Foote Guido, 71, is planned for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pullman Presbyterian Church. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Guido, who was born in Queens, N.Y., died Tuesday.
He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Hofstra University in New York, and a master’s degree in library science from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Mr. Guido and his family moved to Pullman in 1976 from Vestal, N.Y.
He worked as the head of manuscripts, archives and special collections at Holland Library on the Washington State University campus. He retired in 1997.
Mr. Guido served on the board of the Pullman Civic Trust. He received the first emeritus member award from the Northwest Archivist Association.
He was a volunteer at Camp Larson and Washington State University Summer Palace.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Carrie Lee of Moscow, Idaho, and Megan Nazari of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

Theodore `T.J.’ McKelvey Spokane
Visitation for Theodore J. “T.J.” McKelvey, 84, will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. McKelvey, who was born in Medimont, Idaho, died Thursday.
He moved to Spokane in 1931, and in 1938 he married Hazel Strand.
From 1954 to 1972 he worked as a mechanic for the city of Spokane. He also had worked as a security guard for The Crescent department store.
Mr. McKelvey was a 50-year member of Eagles Lodge No. 2 and was a member of the Five Mile Grange.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James McKelvey of Spokane; two daughters, Joanne McCauley of Spokane and Jeanine Johnson of Colbert; four sisters, Polly Thon and Lorraine Coe, both of Spokane, Annabelle Warner of Loon Lake, Wash., and Fay Toomey of Minnesota; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nellie (Valtinson) Pelland Nine Mile Falls, Wash.
No service will be held for Nellie M. (Valtinson) Pelland, 73. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Deer River, Minn., Mrs. Pelland died Thursday.
In 1945 she graduated from Deer River High School.
She married Claude Pelland in 1950.
Mrs. Pelland was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church.
She and her husband moved to Nine Mile Falls 12 years ago from Edmonds, Wash.
Surrivors include her husband; three sons, Randy Pelland of Nine Mile Falls, Brian Pelland of Snohomish, Wash., and Kent Pelland of Riverside, Calif.; a daughter, Claudia Crawford of Nine Mile Falls; numerous brothers and sisters, and six grandchildren.

Harry Palmer Spokane
Private graveside service for Harry Bernard Palmer, 86, will be Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Palmer, who was born in Charleston, S.C., died Wednesday.
He graduated from the University of Alaska in 1936.
During World War II he worked on major airfield construction for the Army Corps of Engineers.
In 1944 he married Ruth Avey.
Mr. Palmer served as regional director of the Veterans Affairs Office in Fairbanks, Alaska. From 1955 to 1956 he served as representative for the Alaska Territorial Legislature.
He worked as a senior engineer at Kaiser Aluminum in Oakland, Calif., from 1956 to 1960.
In 1960 he graduated from San Francisco Law School.
Mr. Palmer then worked as an administrative manager for Dillingham Corp. in Honolulu until retiring in 1975.
He worked for the city of Salem, Ore., as an engineering consultant from 1976 to 1980 and was an arbitrator for the American Arbitrators Association.
He retired a second time and moved to Spokane 11 years ago.
Mr. Palmer was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska in Nome, the Elks Lodge and the Adventurers Club and had been Area Governor for Toastmasters International District 49.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Arlene Nowak of Spokane and Delphine Palmer of Newport, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
