1999 standings: 1, KF (5-1, 7-3). 2, Colfax (4-2, 8-3). 3, Freeman (2-4, 3-6). 4, Liberty (1-5, 2-7).

New coaches: None.

Returning all-league players: Jeremy Payne (KF) TE; Casey Rogalette (KF) FS; Derek McClintock (Colfax) LB; Ben Holling (Liberty) LB.

Look back: Colfax won a play-in game but it was a double Bulldog loss (KF & Colfax) in the first round.

Coach’s comment: “Kettle Falls is the team to beat but Freeman and Liberty will be much improved as well,” Colfax coach Mike Morgan.

Outlook: Colfax has 14 returning starters, the same as Liberty and Freeman combined… . Kettle Falls has to replace three all-state players and Colfax one… . Liberty quarterback Ben Holling will miss a couple of games after breaking an arm in summer basketball.

Kettle Falls made the playoffs for first time.

The four teams play a double round-robin. The Colfax-KF games are Oct. 6 in KF and Oct. 27 in Colfax.

Kettle Falls plays at defending champion Okanogan Sept. 22. Okanogan won 32-0 in Kettle last year.
