Code Enforcement Handles Junk Cars
Spokane Police received several inquiries Wednesday about a junk car ordinance adopted by the City Council on Tuesday night.
The ordinance allows the city to haul the cars away, within city limits, in certain cases.
The posting of notices, mailing of forms, and the removal of any vehicles on private property will be handled by the city’s Code Enforcement unit, and not by police, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.
Questions and requests for information should be directed to Code Enforcement at 625-6083, Cottam said.
The ordinance does not take effect for 30 days, during which time the city will work out details on how it will be implemented, Cottam said.
