Two Summer Hits Return To Palouse
Two summer theater hits return for performances in the Palouse this weekend.
“Godspell” at Washington State University and “The Rainmaker” at the University of Idaho have been revived for encore runs. This is part of a tradition of bringing back the best shows of the summer at the beginning of the school year.
“The Rainmaker” is N. Richard Nash’s 1954 story about a handsome stranger who arrives in a small town on the Plains. He brings with him the hope of ending two kinds of drought — the literal kind, and the metaphoric kind, a young farm woman’s romantic drought.
“The Rainmaker” runs tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. All shows are at the Hartung Theatre stage on the UI campus in Moscow. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and $7 for students and youth. Call the UI ticket office at (208) 885-7212 or (888) 8-UIDAHO, or G&B Select-a-Seat at 325-SEAT or (800) 325-SEAT.
“Godspell” is Stephen Schwartz’s circus-like musical re-telling of the Gospel of St. Matthew. It spawned the hit “Day by Day” when it debuted on Broadway in 1971.
“Godspell” runs Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Jones Theatre at Daggy Hall on the WSU campus in Pullman.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for students and children. Tickets are available at the WSU Theater Ticket office, (509) 335-7236.
