Fair To Feature Renovation Issues
Homeowners will have a chance to learn about restoring and renovating historic homes later this month at the Home Renovator’s Fair.
The new fair, sponsored by Spokane Preservation Advocates Sept.23-24 at the downtown Masonic Temple, will feature talks and demonstrations by renovation experts. Attendees will also learn how to put their house on the Spokane Historic Register, and a “house doctor” will look at photos of old homes and offer suggestions.
As many as 30,000 Spokane homes are 50 years old or older, said Teresa Brum, director of the City-County Historic Preservation Office.
“Renovation has increased in popularity, and more people are faced with the challenge of retaining the character of their home while still considering costs, current codes and modern use,” she said.
Exhibitors will include antique dealers, contractors, real estate agents, architects and producers of stained glass, tiles and others specializing in products and services for old homes.
Admission will be $5. For more information, call 625-6970.
