Eva Gagliardi Spokane
Visitation for Eva J. Gagliardi, 90, will be from noon to 7 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at HennesseySmith Funeral Home. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs.
Gagliardi died Sunday.
She was a homemaker and had worked at The Crescent department store.
Mrs. Gagliardi was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Altar Society. She also was a member of Mary Queen Roman Catholic Church and the Mater Dei Institute Auxiliary.
Her husband of 63 years, Joseph, died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Gagliardi; a daughter, Karen Volpatti; a sister, Margaret Nigro; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of Charity or Mater Dei Institute.
Mildred Smith Kellogg
Service for Mildred R. Smith, 88, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho. Burial will be at Hunt Cemetery in Kingston, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, who was born in Roberts, Idaho, died Saturday.
She married Jesse Smith in 1930 and lived in Ekalaka, Mont., until moving to the Silver Valley in 1940.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Kellogg.
She enjoyed in sewing, cooking and fishing.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband in 1980.
Survivors include seven children, Jim Smith of Kellogg, Jean Bachmeier, Terry Smith and Zella Burt, all of Pinehurst, Nola Jenicek of Kingston, Idaho, Maxine Alloway of Spokane, and Larry Smith of Fairbanks, Alaska; 19 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Diane Jones Clark Fork, Idaho
Memorial service for Diane Dawn Jones, 57, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint.
Born in Lewiston, Mrs. Jones died Sept. 7.
She lived in Lewiston and Spokane before moving to California, where she graduated from high school.
Mrs. Jones attended college in California and in 1973 married Keith Jones.
They moved to Priest Lake, Idaho, in 1974, and she began working as a secretary for the sewer district.
They later moved to Clark Fork, and she worked as a home health-care nurse for Bonner County Panhandle Health.
She enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking care of native wildlife.
Survivors include her husband; six children, Tammy Scribner of Diamond Lake, Wash., Tara Miller and Tony Jones, both of Priest River, Idaho, Brian Jones and Trini Jones, both of Lewiston, and Angel Pederson of Spokane; her mother and stepfather, Melva Mae and Elbyrne Thacker of Colorado; four sisters, Sharon Redden of California, and Kathy Taylor, Monta Vermillion and Marge Pontius, all of Lewiston; seven brothers, Don Richardson of Priest Lake, Alan and Pat Richardson, both of Lewiston, Mike Richardson of Peck, Idaho, Gill Thacker of California, and Steve and Walt Thacker, both of Colorado; and 14 grandchildren.

Ray Payne Tekoa, Wash.
Service for Ray V. Payne, 91, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at the United Church of Christ in Tekoa. Burial will follow at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Colfax, Wash., Mr. Payne died Sunday.
He grew up in the Cove District north of Tekoa, where he started farming with his father in the late 1920s.
Mr. Payne married Beulah Endlund. They lived in Tekoa, where he operated a garage. In 1948 they moved to Pacific Beach, Calif. He worked as a custodian at the Seminary College.
They returned to Washington in the early 1950s and lived in Colville and Ione, Wash. Mr. Payne worked on the Box Canyon Dam and operated a restaurant.
He and his family returned to Tekoa in 1955. Mr. Payne worked for Morgan and Morgan, Harold Heaton Farms and Tekoa Grange Supply.
In 1966 he moved his family to Spokane, where he worked as a scale mechanic for four years.
In 1970 he began working as a manager for the Brezlin Apartments. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Payne moved back to Tekoa in the early 1980s and lived at the Tekoa Retirement Apartments. He later moved back to Spokane, then returned to Tekoa, and had lived at the Tekoa Care Center for the past 1 years.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca McHargue of Tekoa; one granddaughter and six great-grandchildren.

Irene Anderson Spokane
Service for Irene C. Anderson, 79, will be at 2 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, who was born near Cathay, N.D., died Sunday.
She married Cordes Anderson in 1946, and they moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Frandsen and Nancy Corchero, both of San Jose, Calif.; four sons, Keith Anderson of Spokane, Bob Anderson of Otis Orchards, Steve Anderson of Montesano, Wash., and Bruce Anderson of Worley, Idaho; five sisters, Alla Mae Brecto of Fairbanks, Alaska, Olive Zeisler of San Diego, Myrtle Zeisler of Scotts Valley, Calif., Helen Tyler of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Margie Foster of Clear Lake, Calif.; two brothers, Alden Brecto of Spokane and Floyd Brecto of Longview, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Miller Buckley, Wash.
Memorial service for Helen I. Miller, 93, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Weeks-Whitmore Funeral Home in Buckley is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Miller, who was born in Indiana, died Monday.
She was a former longtime Spokane resident and homemaker.
Mrs. Miller and her husband, Roland, moved to Buckley in 1980.
Her husband died in 1991.
Survivors include three daughters, Ilene Miller of Spokane, Pauline Fister of Buckley and June Fields of Yuma, Ariz.; four sisters, Erla Smith of Spokane, Lucille Fister of Kellogg, Millie Silvia of Auburn, Calif., and Grace Stock of Red Bluff, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Lowell `Bob’ Armitage Spokane
Memorial service for Lowell R. “Bob” Armitage, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
An 82-year Spokane resident, Mr. Armitage died Saturday. He was born in Thief River Falls, Minn.
He graduated from North Central High School.
In 1935 he married Winifred Heath.
Mr. Armitage worked as a linotype operator for The Spokesman-Review for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the International Typographers Union and the Sinto and Corbin senior centers.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Love of Palo Alto, Calif.; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

John Carter Tensed, Idaho
Memorial service for John F. Carter, 49, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Farmington (Wash.) Seventh-day Adventist Church. Inurnment will be held at the Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carter, who was born in Spokane, died Friday from a heart attack. He had been missing since Friday and was found dead Monday.
He grew up on the family farm north of Tensed and graduated in 1969 from Tekoa High School.
Mr. Carter worked with his father and uncle on the family farm. He took over operations in 1980 and was currently operating John Carter Farms.
In 1981 he married Sherry Wilson.
He served as director for the Tekoa Medical Foundation for 10 years.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Idaho Pea and Lentil Association and traveled to Washington, D.C., Taiwan and Spain to promote the association. He was also a member of the Benewah County Soil Conservation District, the Tekoa Jaycees and the Tekoa Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Chelsea, and a son, Jared, both at the home; his parents, Othel and Bernice Carter of Tensed; and two sisters, Gayle Stockton of Spokane and Glenna Helm of Los Angeles.

Louis Green Spokane
Graveside service for Louis W. Green, 73, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Green, who was born in Oklahoma, died Sunday.
Mr. Green served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a 37-year Spokane resident and worked as a laborer in the farming industry.
His wife of 50 years, Marion, died July 8.
Mr. Green is survived by three sons, Brent and Donald Green, both of Spokane, and William Green of Tacoma; six daughters, Lois Lively, Belinda Smith, Patricia Welsford, Karen and Brenda Green, and Carol Lawson, all of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gertrude Helland Deer Park
Funeral Mass for Gertrude Josephine Helland, 92, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Presentation Roman Catholic Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Helland, who was born in Watertown, S.D., died Sunday.
She graduated from nursing school in Rochester, Minn.
In 1940 she married Otis Helland. They moved to Spokane in 1948 from Seattle.
Mrs. Helland was a registered nurse and worked as a charge nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital for 21 years. She was also a head nurse for the nursery for premature infants. She retired in 1972.
She and her husband moved to Deer Park in 1992 from Addy, Wash.
Mrs. Helland was a member of St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church, the Addy Grange and the Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Donna Gyllenhammer of Deer Park and Jackie Schmidt of Port Townsend, Wash.; a brother, Jack Laqua, and a sister, Virginia Laqua, both of Watertown; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
