Forrest Bale Earns Centre College Degree

Forrest Bale, Spokane, received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Centre College, Danville, Ky.

Bale is the son of Bradley and Pamela Bale, Spokane, and a graduate of Ferris High School.

James Blaine, son of Tom and Ann Blaine, Spokane, has been accepted to Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D.

Blaine is a 2000 graduate of Gonzaga Prep and plans to pursue studies in secondary education, history, physical education and international studies and participate in football and track.

Spokane Community College honored its outstanding staff for the 1999-2000 school year at the college’s annual staff appreciation breakfast.

Recipients include Carol Edwards, academic services division; Phyllis Prescott, buildings and grounds; Carol Anderson, division of business, hospitality and information technology; Al Stokes, computer support; Marcia Ethridge, division of health and environmental sciences; Jane McCarville, instructional services and telecommunications; Janet MacKenzie, division of liberal arts and vocational related instruction; Christy Doyle and Betty Schroeder, student services; and Gloria Bendewald, technical education.

Jeff Talarico, a recent graduate of Central Valley High School, earned honors in the Dynamic Designs Washington State Computer Art Contest for high school students. He entered his web page design while he was a student in the computer-aided advertising class of Sherry Johnson, professional/technical instructor at Central Valley.

Two 1998 graduates of Medical Lake High School were recently awarded scholarships for the 2000-2001 school year at Eastern Washington University.

Ciara Johnson, daughter of Renee Bawer, Cheney, and Glen Johnson, Spokane, was awarded a $500 Hawk/Kingsley/Newsom Scholarship. In high school, Johnson was a varsity tennis player and cheerleader and was vice president of the senior class. She is a junior majoring in English education.

James Mace, son of Steve and Renee Mace, Medical Lake, received a $2,500 trustees scholarship for academic excellence. In high school, Mace played varsity football and soccer and was a senior class officer. He is a junior majoring in social science education and coaches junior varsity football at Medical Lake High School.
