Man Charged After Motorcycle Chase
A man driving a stolen motorcycle led police on a high-speed chase and was later arrested shortly after midnight Friday, according to police reports.
Spokane resident John R. Richmond didn’t stop for a police officer near the corner of Nevada Street and Sanson Avenue, police said. He drove past several stop signs, traveling up to 60 mph in a residential area, police said. The officer ended the pursuit when he lost sight of the motorcycle near Cincinnati Street and Rowan Avenue.
A few minutes later, another officer in the area reported that he was chasing a man on foot near Nevada and North Avenue after finding the motorcycle lying on a nearby street.
A police dog found the suspect hiding in some bushes in the 1100 block of East Rowan.
Richmond was booked into jail on two felony charges: eluding an officer and possession of a stolen motorcycle. He also was driving with a suspended license, police said.
