Vikings Nip East Valley

Coeur d’Alene couldn’t find the back of the net, but the Vikings emerged with a 1-0 non-league girls soccer victory at East Valley on Monday.

The Knights, who outshot the Vikings 12-8 and got a solid performance in goal from Tiera Como, were victimized by an own goal at the 9-minute mark and couldn’t recover.

Jessica Pruitt played solid defense for EV, which missed several opportunities, including one shot that caromed off a goal post.

In other non-league matches, Sarah Sheridan scored four goals and Katie Harkins had five assists to help Pullman (2-1-2) earn a 5-5 tie at Lewiston (4-3-1). The Bengals, who had two goals called back, got a goal and an assist from Heidi Oakes… . Patsy McVey scored in the seventh round of a shootout to give Ferris a 3-2 win over Lewis and Clark at Hart Field… . Jessica Henson scored twice for University (5-0) in a 4-1 win at North Central (0-5). The Titans lost a shutout in the 89th minute when Katie White scored for the Indians.
