Bayview Gets New Commanding Officer

The Navy’s Acoustic Research Detachment at Bayview got a new commanding officer Tuesday, when Cmdr. David Fox replaced Cmdr. David Pierce.

Pierce had held the position since December 1997. He will be reporting to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in San Diego, Calif.

Fox, an Indiana native, received his Naval commission in 1985. He most recently served as depot maintenance program manager for the Pacific Fleet Submarine Force.

Guests at Tuesday’s change-of-command ceremony included Capt. John Preisel, commander of the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center; and Capt. Steve Petri, who will relieve Preisel as commander next week.

Local guests included George Guedel, past director of the detachment and current president of the Bayview Chamber of Commerce.
