Cheney Stop Brings In $15,000 For Campaign

From Staff

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Dick Cheney’s brief stop in Idaho Falls this week may have been prompted by the need to top off the fuel tanks of his campaign jet, but it energized local partisans and raised a relatively sizable chunk of cash for the national ticket.

A campaign spokesman said Cheney’s short visit and sevenminute speech to about 400 people during a rally at the Idaho Falls Airport on Monday generated $15,000 in contributions.

It pushed Cheney’s fund-raising efforts to more than $1.3 million in just nine days.

After spending the weekend in Jackson, Wyo., Cheney stopped at Idaho Falls to greet supporters while a crew pumped another 400 gallons of fuel into his jet for the rest of the day’s campaigning in the battleground states of Oregon and Washington.
