Free business seminars in Hillyard

Eastern Washington University and the Greater Hillyard Business Association will present free seminars to assist neighborhood businesses.

The seminars are open to all businesses and individuals, in and outside of Hillyard. Marketing and financing will be discussed on Aug. 16 and 30, respectively. Seminars are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St.

Karaoke to benefit center

The Friends of the Northeast Community Center will present the second annual Evening of Karaoke and Fund-raising Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Encourage local talent to sing with your bids and contributions.

Beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets, $25, are available by calling Alice at the Northeast Community Center, 487-1603. Ticket sale deadline is Tuesday.

Neighborhood council meetings

• The Balboa/South Indian Trail Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 tonight at Balboa Elementary School, 3010 W. Holyoke Ave.

• The North Indian Trail Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road.

• The Bemiss Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bemiss Elementary School, 2323 E. Bridgeport Ave.

• The Emerson/Garfield Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Corbin Senior Center, 827 W. Cleveland Ave.

• The North Hill Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Willard Elementary School, 500 W. Longfellow Ave.

• The Peaceful Valley Neighborhood Council will meet Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at Peaceful Valley Community Center, 214 N. Cedar St.
