Sundays in the Garden series - The next event, “History and Tour of Duncan Garden” by Steve Nokes, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Manito Park’s Manito Meeting Room, east of Gaiser Conservatory. Upcoming events in the series are: Sept. 2, “Tour of Ferris Perennial Garden,” 6 p.m. in Ferris Garden; and Oct. 3, “Autumn Joys and Jobs” by Maralee Karwoski, 2 p.m. at Manito Meeting Room. Art in the Garden – Eighth annual 2004 Cherry Blossoms art show and botanical garden, Thursday through Aug. 14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Rosin Gardens, 1015 Mingo Mountain Road, Kettle Falls. Featuring over 300 varieties of plants all labeled with common and botanical names, along with pressed floral artwork of Cherry Rosin. Annual Flower Show – The Gardeners of Spokane will be having their annual show “The Flora of Lewis and Clark,” Aug. 14 with exhibit set-up at 8 a.m., judging at noon, and the public is welcome for viewing from noon-5 p.m., and viewing Aug. 15 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Centennial Celebration – Ice cream social, Aug. 14, 1-4 p.m., Manito Park Pavilion, 18th and Grand Boulevard. Ice cream catered by Mary Lou’s Homemade Ice Cream. Fall plant sale - The Friends of Manito will have its Fall Plant Sale on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with member-only sale from 8-10 a.m. This event will be held at Manito Park, in an area just east of Gaiser Conservatory. Kids in the Garden, a Renaissance Faire — sponsored by Friends of Manito, will be Sept. 25 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Manito Park, east of Duncan Garden. Listen to stories of the era, learn to play chess, make your own catapult, design a Robin Hood or Princess Hat, color a coat of arms, watch archery demonstration. Free and open to the public.
